We arrived in Florida on Sunday and hung out at the hotel. Our next morning began at 6:30am as we headed out to explore our first of the Disney Parks... the Magic Kingdom. We rode rides, cooled off on on Splash Mountain and left around 4:00pm to eat lunch and get a little sleep before we returned to the park around 7:00 and stayed until midnight. We didn't get back to the hotel that night until about 1:00 and ordered some Domino's pizza for a late dinner. Bed time was around 2:30 and our alarms rang around 6:30 again as would be the case with most our days. Magic Kingdom is definitely a favorite!
Tuesday was spent in Epcot. A park that was dedicated to science and the future. This park we agreed was our least favorite. We didn't spend an excess amount of time there but we did all there really was to do. Well.. everything that interested us. I'm sure Evan could have spent more time though. He's our science lover.
We left Epcot and went to Downtown Disney to hang out at a 4 story interactive game building called Disney Quest, shop a little bit and then meet up with a friend; Lakinn Haynes. Lakinn is a daughter of some old friends who is in the career start program here with Disney. She became our personal tour guide for the next couple of days.
The third day we spent in the Disney Parks was in Hollywood Studios where I tried out for the American Idol Experience. Unfortunately the judges didn't send me on to the first round of elimination and i was very disappointed, but the lady gave me some great tips to help me out. Even though the age limit was 14 years old, the judge let Alise sing for her too. She said we both have nice voices and that if we keep at it we will be great when our voices mature more. Later in the day we went to the finale show Idol show at the park and cheered on the contestants. It was very fun! We all rode the "Tower of Terror" and "Aero Smith Rockin Roller Coaster" (both our favorite rides). We tried the "Toy Story Mania" ride/game and had a BLAST! Lakinn met up with us while we were there and helped show us around the park. We were there until closing.
Day #4 in the Sunshine State again started early and was spent at the Animal Kingdom. Lakinn joined us again for a fun filled day. The day grew hotter and hotter as it went on. We left the park around 4:00pm and went to Blizzard Beach water park. It was SOOOOO much fun. The water felt incredibly good in the scorching hot weather. At 8:00pm, closing, we left the park and headed to Steak N' Shake on Lakinn's recommendation. The burgers tasted SO good!! And the shakes were even better. Our night ended earlier and our Friday morning started later. It felt really good to have a little sleep. This morning we headed out to the next water park called Typhoon Lagoon. There was a wave pool that shot off 10 foot waves every 4 minutes. We swam with the sharks at a reef in the park. It was a great experience. We rode a water coaster and did the family raft ride. When we all got hungry and decided to head back to the hotel for lunch, the weather turned on us. It began pouring down rain. It went from a drop to a downpour in seconds. Dad had gotten us a "Garbage Pail" ice cream which is a bunch of ice cream and toppings mixed together in a sand bucket and topped with whipped cream and sprinkles. We all were gathered under an awning trying to keep from flooding our ice cream as we ate from our bucket. Since it was pouring we headed back to the wave pool. Being caught in the downpour was a lot of fun! I'm sure it was the sight to see. We headed back to the hotel for lunch and slept a looooong time. Now we are hanging out here, watching TV, doing laundry and we'll get to sleep in a little tomorrow again too. Then we'll go have a lazy day at downtown Disney, shop, go to Disney Quest, see a movie, and eat at one of the fun restaurants. Sunday we will leave for the panhandle of Florida where we will meet up with some old friends, David and Tracy Peterson. After a short visit with them, we will be heading to Atlanta, Georgia for the Coca-Cola Museum! This one is for mom:)
